In addition to colonizing the land, Israel, the occupying Power, has also undertaken to change the demographic reality in occupied East Jerusalem by emptying the City from its indigenous Muslim and Christian Palestinian population using several administrative and other measures, including residency revocation, and severe restrictions on the freedom of worship.
Christian Palestinians, along with their Muslim compatriots, suffer from Israel’s policy of the de-Arabization of occupied East Jerusalem, which is threatening not only the two-state solution, but the very nature of the Holy City.
At Easter, this policy is most prominent. While Christians from around the world take part in Easter ceremonies in occupied East Jerusalem, Palestinian Christians, who were born and live the closest to the Holy City are prevented from worshipping there.
